Leadership Concepts
Skills Programme for Certification
The Leadership Concepts Skills Programme form part of the Further Education & Training Certificate: Generic Management (Qualification 57712) This qualification is offered by LEDISA Academy in the form of 6 Skills Programmes (Study Schools). Skills Programme S10 deals with Leadership Concepts.
Leadership Concepts Overview
Explaining and understanding the nature of good leadership is probably easier than practicing it. Good leadership requires deep human qualities, beyond conventional notions of authority. In the modern age, good leaders are an enabling force, helping people and organisations to perform and develop, which implies that a sophisticated alignment be achieved between people’s needs and the aims of the organisation.
The traditional idea of a leader as the chief in charge at the top of a hierarchy is no longer a good way to describe what real leadership is.
Effective leadership does not necessarily require great technical or intellectual capacity. These attributes might help, but they are not pivotal. In the modern world, good leadership is more about having attitudes and actions that are human and relate to people, like communication.
This Skills Programme shows good examples of leadership skills and traits, as well as case studies and practical tools and materials for people who want to improve their leadership skills.
Skills Programme S10 is the first compulsory Skills Programme (also called a Study School), and consists of the courses (Unit Standards) in the table below.
